HS Prannoy and Satwik-Chirag advance to the China Masters quarterfinals

<p>In a pre-quarterfinal match that lasted precisely forty minutes, HS Prannoy, the last remaining Indian competing in the men’s singles division, defeated Magnus Johannesen of Denmark with ease, winning 21-12, 21-18.</p>
<p>In the last eight round, eighth-seeded Prannoy will now face third-seeded Japanese player Kodai Naraoka.</p>
<p>Along with Prannoy, the top seeds and ranked players in the world, Satwik and Chirag, also flew the Indian flag high, defeating the Japanese pair of Akira Koga and Taichi Saito 21-15 21-16 to advance to the men’s doubles quarterfinals.</p>
<p>The Indonesian duo of Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin will be their next opponent.</p>
<p>Prannoy got off to a strong start against Johannesen, using shrewd strategy to lead 6-1 in the first game before the Dane cut it to 8-6 and then 14-11.</p>
<p>However, the Indian exhausted his opponent and won the first game by using all of his expertise to force lengthy rallies.</p>
<p>In the second game, the shuttlers engaged in a fierce battle that saw them battle it out to 15 points, equal the score at 18, and then Prannoy defeated his opponent to end the match and guarantee his quarterfinal position.</p>
