New Delhi, August 13, 2026: Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji unveiled the NIKA2 Kisan Medium Drone developed by AkinAnalytics, highlighting an important milestone for women-led DeepTech entrepreneurship in India. Founder and CEO Janaki Pulaparthi presented the indigenous agricultural platform and demonstrated its capabilities before the Union Minister. The occasion brought attention not only to the drone’s technology but also to the growing presence of women entrepreneurs in India’s advanced technology landscape.
AkinAnalytics is a MeitY-supported Indian DeepTech and Defence technology startup, with its work spanning drones, artificial intelligence, analytics and specialised sector applications. Under the leadership of Janaki Pulaparthi, a Computer Science Engineer and ISB alumna, the company has developed solutions aimed at agriculture as well as environmental operations, infrastructure, mining, energy and defence. The opportunity to showcase NIKA2 before Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji adds national visibility to this women-led technology journey.
The NIKA2 platform has been developed to address multiple agricultural requirements rather than functioning solely as a spraying drone. Its 16-litre spraying payload is complemented by a 13-kg spreading payload, allowing spraying and spreading operations to be performed through the same platform. The drone can cover approximately three acres per sortie, subject to field and operating conditions. Such multi-use capability is aimed at making drone deployment more versatile across different stages of agricultural activity.
Its design also incorporates technologies intended for challenging field conditions. Terrain-following capability enables the drone to operate across varying and undulating terrain, while its application range includes tea-estate spraying. NIKA2 is also equipped for night operations and incorporates advanced fail-safe features. Beyond crop spraying, its capabilities include seed and granule spreading and aquaculture-related applications such as feed distribution across fish and shrimp ponds.
The company’s story has been shaped by practical drone deployments on the ground. In Andhra Pradesh, AkinAnalytics has deployed drones for aerial seed-ball dispersal as part of large-scale afforestation operations across forest landscapes. This work demonstrates how the company has approached drones as tools for solving sector-specific challenges rather than as technology products alone. Its DGCA-authorised RPTO at Amalapuram further extends this ecosystem by supporting drone training and rural entrepreneurship.
Government-backed innovation programmes have also formed part of AkinAnalytics’ development journey, including NIDHI PRAYAS, Startup India Seed Fund Scheme and MeitY SAMRIDH.
